City Council adopted the 2011 Land Development Code (LDC) on April 19, 2010. With the adoption of the 2011 LDC, City Council delayed its effective date until such time that the Official Zoning Map was updated and adopted to reflect the new zoning districts in the 2011 LDC. Most residential zoning districts were rezoned to the 2011 LDC on August 15, 2011, making the 2011 LDC effective for those properties on September 18, 2011.

Commercial properties and those properties owned by a special district; school district; public utility; local government; or the state or federal government were excluded from the initial phase of legislative rezoning. These properties were excluded from the legislative rezoning to allow for additional outreach to be made.
 
Since the adoption of the Official Zoning Map on August 15, 2011, the City has reached out to special districts; school districts; public utilities; local governments; and the state and federal government to inform them of changes to the zoning of their properties within the City of Centennial through a legislative rezoning process to reflect the new zoning districts in the 2011 LDC. A draft zoning map illustrating these changes may be accessed on the City website .
