Stagnant Water
Stagnant Water in Gutter
Hazardous stagnant water located in house
gutters may go unnoticed.

The purpose of the Stagnant Ponds and Breeding Waters Code  is to enable the identification and subsequent elimination of breeding grounds for insects, such as mosquitoes, that carry disease and place citizens and animals at serious risk of illness. Mosquitoes spread the West Nile Virus.  Any body of water, regardless of size, that is motionless or not flowing from a stream or current is an excellent breeding ground for many insects.

Typical Sources of Stagnant Water

  • Pools in disrepair
  • Roof Gutters
  • Ponds
  • Buckets
  • Unused tires
  • Toys or equipment left outside for an extended period of time, allowing water to accumulate.
